The Constitutions and Statutes of the Cistercian Order discribe the monastic life as "ordinary, obscure, and laborious". There is truth in this and yet, this description doesn't do justice to the whole picture.
In the midst of our lives of work and prayer we experience events which stand out and add coloring. Liturgical events, community retreats, and even picnics are all welcome breaks which allow us brothers to grow together in our communal life.
