Forestry

Our Lady of Guadalupe
Trappist Abbey

900 of our 1300 acres are forested. Over the years the monks have developed a plantation of Douglas fir, the sales of which provide seasonal income. At the same time, we strive to realize objectives that are congenial to our guests and ecologically responsible. To manage the crop we contract with Scott Ferguson of Trout Mountain Forestry.

Brother Chris heads the department and comes to us with a rich background. After having graduated from Humboldt State University with a forestry degree, he spent some time as a forester on the California coast before becoming a monk.
